Radiation - Chemo
We meet tomorrow with the folks at Radiation during which time Ron may be having his first radiation treatment. Three of you have graciously volunteered to take Ron for his appointment one day of the seven weeks of treatment. I'll be taking him the other two days unless any others are willing to sign on for the task.
Ron will be taking the oral chemo an hour before treatment. Apparently the chemo assists the radiation in honing in on the cancerous tissue. So, the chemo and radiation will be happening at the same time. By the time he returns home, he should be ready for a good nap!
Ron is in good spirits and enjoying having his niece, Courtney from San Diego, visiting. Last Sunday, he insisted on driving himself to a University of Chicago alumni event. I wasn't gaga about the idea, but, as we talked about, it's his life and he has the right to make decisions as long as possible. So, off he went! And back he came all in one piece having had a fantastic time.
We've been enjoying the culinary expertise of several of you. On Thursday evening, Cyndi Wolfe showed up with a lovely lentil soup and a salad. It was scrumptious. The strawberries and whipped cream for dessert were especially yummy on a hot, summer night.
yesterday, Florence Deleranko brought pulled pork sandwiches with coleslaw and lemon bars. Who can pass those up???? So, we're being well looked after so that we don't starve to death.
Updates will continue as needed, probably on a weekly basis for the time being. In the mean time, keep up the prayers and good vibes as they seem to be working very well. And thanks for "begin there." It means more than you'll ever know.
